Canada Ikea. Doing laundry outside today smelling in the fabric softener, feeling, seeing, sensing the sun's rays just as my grandmother would were she outside, hanging her laundry. The freshly mowed grass, the silent suburbs, a new day arisen to dote on her family, to appreciate life, to hang the laundry. Her genes are inside me, let me feel what she might in the glorious light, feel the landscape, the daybreak, smell the smells, hear the birds and reckon on peace in the world. There was a dream I had before, like a scene from a Homer, and it was all wilderness green, a westward expansion setting. It fades from the mind as I write it all down. But then, it grabbed my thoughts and made total sense. Green, brown. Laundry, sky, earth, birds, sunlight and hmm...fabric softener.
